"Let it Be" is the one Beatles LP I never understood why Sir George Martin was not allowed to finish the tapes for the album. Because Phil Spector was a one minded Producer. And despite the even more glorious sound of the 50th Anniversary Album that Giles Martin and company produced , The music outshines whatever Spector added. The 2nd CD of outtakes were great, and the Glyn John's produced "Across the Universe" is a highlight. It is still a great tribute to the Album. But the one addition the 2nd CD needed was the full recording of the last time The Beatles played "Get Back" on the Rooftop Concert. I say this cause it was rumored/known that Phil Spector spliced the conversations at the Beginning and end of the song with a studio recording of the song in the middle. And with what Anthology 3 recording of "Get Back" with the bookend Comments & John Lennon's expression of hope they passed the Audition. Would have made the 2 Special edition CD even more memorable.. Even without that it is a great time of listening for all.

For me there was always a kind of melancholy attached to the Let It Be album, as it was finally released to us fans after we were finally told the Beatles had broken up, and not amicably so. That is why it is so great to be able to hear this wonderful album now with Giles Martin's and Sam Okell's acoustic artistry, and the benefit of 50 years perspective. Let It Be is a great Beatles album, for me highlighted by The One After 909, a hard rocker from their younger days. The companion disc is lovely too, plays like an album in its own right , if you like, full of those oh wow moments we fans love. Thanks to Apple Corps for a fine offering.

The music took me back to when the album first came out. The quality of the sound was great and the memories more clear than ever. The booklet that came with it added to the experience. T
